5- Eye Tracking Flashcards
How does the scleral search coil track eye movement?
Uses a small electrical current changes caused by eye movements to monitor movements
Why is the scleral search coil an unreliable measure?
People were probably reading very quickly just to get it off as it was very uncomfortable
How does an EOG track eye movement?
Electrodes were placed around eyes as changes in the electrical field as eye moves measure the direction of movement
What advantage does an EOG have over a scleral eye coil?
Less invasive
How does a dual purkinje image eye tracker track eye movement?
Uses a camera to record the eye- infrared light illuminates the eye and a combination of lenses and mirrors reflect this light to show any movements made
Why is measuring eye movement with a dual purkinje image eye tracker unreliable?
People were probably reading as fast as possible as it was very uncomfortable
How does EyeLink work to track eye movement?
Infrared light illuminates the eye and corneal reflection is monitored using a camera that samples the location of the eye at 1000Hz
What is the main advantage of EyeLink?
It can track corneal reflection incredibly accurately
What is the most popular measure of the eye?
The EyeLink
Why does the EyeLink require a head rest?
The head can’t move much
What is the sampling rate of a Tobii eye tracker?
90-120Hz
What is an advantage of a Tobii eye tracker?
It is very non invasive
What is a disadvantage of a Tobii eye tracker?
It is not very sensitive
Why is eye tracking a very naturalistic method?
It doesn’t change the way someone reads
