1.1 An Introduction to Earth Science Flashcards
Atmosphere
The layer of gases that surround a planet such as Earth.
Biosphere
The collection of all organisms that live on Earth along with the environments in which they live.
Hydrosphere
The part of Earth composed of water. This water is present as a liquid in the oceans, lakes, rivers, and as groundwater in pores in rocks and soil.

Meteorology
The study of the atmosphere.
Oceanography
The study of the oceans.
Geology
The study of the materials that make up Earth and the processes that change Earth over time.
