Overview
Inappropriate elimination of urine or feces
First diagnosed in childhood or adolescence
Enuresis:
Diagnostic criteria
Repeated voiding of urine into the bed or clothes
2+ times per week
3+ consecutive months
Enuresis:

5+ years old
Enuresis:
Main Treatment
Bell-and-pad
a.k.a. night/moisture/urine/enuresis alarm
80% effective
1/3 partial relapse within 6 months
Enuresis:
Treatment Enhancement
Bell-and-pad combined with:
Behavioral rehearsal
Overcorrection
Enuresis:
Pharmacotherapy
Imipramine:
85% reduction in frequency
30% complete cessation
*Most children relapse within three months after discontinuation of the drug
Encopresis:
Diagnostic Criteria
Repeated involuntary or intentional passage of feces in inappropriate places
1x/month for at least 3 months
4+ years old or equivalent developmental level
