Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder:
Symptoms
Severe recurrent temper outbursts
(verbal and/or behavioral)
Irritable or angry mood between temper outbursts on most days
Outbursts are inconsistent with developmental level
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder:
Duration Criteria
3+ times each week
12+ months
Exhibited in at least two of three settings (home/school/peers)
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder:
Age criteria
Onset before age 10
Diagnosis age range: 6-18
Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia):
Duration Criteria
2 years: Adults
1 year: children and adolescents
Depressed mood on most days
Cannot be symptom-free for more than two months
Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia):
Characteristic Symptoms
[2+ are needed for diagnosis]
Poor appetite or overeating
Insomnia or hypersomnia
Low energy or fatigue
Low self-esteem
Poor concentration or difficulty making decisions
Feelings of hopelessness
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD):
Duration criteria
5+ characteristic symptoms during the week before the onset of menses
Improvement in symptoms within a few days
Absence/minimal symptoms during the week postmenses
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD):
1+ symptom from each of two categories
Affective lability Irritability or anger Depressed mood Self-deprecating thoughts Anxiety or tension
Decreased interest in usual activities Impaired concentration Lethargy Marked change in appetite Hypersomnia or insomnia A sense of being overwhelmed or out of control Physical symptoms
