Zoology Flashcards
Animals are heterotrophic:
Do not produce their own food
Animal cells do not have
Cell walls or plastids
Animals are always able to reproduce…
sexually
animal symmetry:
Radial symmetry and bilateral symmetry
Tissue
groups of certain cell types
Types of Tissue (Mecan BBC)
Muscle tissue, Epithelial tissue, Connective tissue, adipose tissue, Nerve tissue, Bone tissue, Blood tissue, Cartilage
Muscle Tissue:
Smooth Muscle, Skeletal Muscle, and cardiac Muscle
Smooth Muscle
Walls of internal organs and does involuntary movement
Skeletal Muscle
Functions for voluntary movement
Cardiac Muscle
Forms the walls of the heart and give it strength and electrical properties (The skill of beating rhythmically). Its cells interlock with each other, keeping the muscle fibers from ripping during strong contractions.
Epithelial Tissue
Skin. and lines the interior of organs and lines intestine.
Connecctive Tissue
Covers and holds tissue and organs together (ligament as apposed to muscle) not muscle, stationary
Adipose tissue
Found beneath the skin and around organs providing cushioning, insulation and fat storage
Nerve Tissue
Carries electrical and chemical impulses to and from organs and libs
Bone Tissue
Skeleton (support, and protection for internal organs
