Other Facts: Each cuvee bears a name in old Occitan (romance language spoken in southern france). Les Cimels (the wine’s name) means “Bouquet of Fruit.” This wine is certified organic.
Scarpetta, 2013 IT (11)
Type: Pinot Grigio
Region: Fruili, Italy
Tasting Notes:
crisp high acid
white pepper,stone fruits, white flowers.
Other Facts: American Sommelier Bobby Stuckey and Chef Lachlan Patterson of Frasca Food and Wine (arguably one of Boulder, Colorado’s best restaurants) got together to collaborate on a pinot grigio project in Friuli that was flavorful enough, packing enough body and acidic backbone to pair with their favorite foods.

Type: Müller-Thurgau
Region: Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy
Tasting Notes:
Intensely aromatic nose with hints of peach and citrus.
Pair with: great with seafood and lighter fare
Other Facts: Müller-Thurgau is a white grape variety (sp. Vitis vinifera) which was created by Hermann Müller from the Swiss Canton of Thurgau. His intention was to combine the intensity and complexity of the Riesling grape with the ability to ripen earlier in the season that the Silvaner grape possesses.
Gotham Project, “The Finger” 2013 US (9)
Type Riesling Region: Finger Lakes NY, USA Tasting Notes: tangerine, orange peel, lime and stone fruit. A dry to just off-dry finish.
Other Facts: This American made-for-tap wine is Gotham Project’s inaugural release. “The Finger” is from Seneca lake, NY. Aka, the middle finger.
Picollo Ernesta 2013 IT (8)
Type: Cortese Region: Piemonte, Italy Tasting Notes: grapefruit, green apple and lemon. light-to-medium bodied mineral overtones dry finish.
Other Facts: Cortese is the great white varietal from the Gavi region, a small corner of Piedmont.
Château La Freynelle Bordeaux Blanc 2013 FR (9)
Type: Sauvignon Blanc Region: Bordeaux, France Tasting Notes: Medium bodied but crisp Apples and pear with a hint of lemon peel.
Other Facts: Founded seven generations ago, this winery was repeatedly handed down from father to son. In 1990, at the age of 22, Veronique Barthe, the first girl in the family since the French Revolution, inherited the family estate and as its first female oenologist and winemaker is proving her worth by winning numerous awards for her estate wines with a screw cap closure.
George Albrecht Schneider, Spatlese 2013 DE (11)
Type: Gewurztraminer Region: Rheinhessen, Germany Tasting Notes: Full and lush. Fig, marmalade and honey,hints of balsamic. Sweet and richly textured, Slightly heavy and low in acid.
Other Facts: Spätlese literal meaning: “late harvest is a German wine term for a wine from fully ripe grapes, the lightest of the late harvest wines. Late harvest grapes are often more similar to raisins, but have been naturally dehydrated while on the vine.
Naveran Vintage Brut 2013 SP (10)
Type Cava Varietals: Xarello, Macebeo, Parellada Region: Cava, Penedes, Spain Tasting Notes: oysters Strong yeasty bright yellow color and a supple acidity and freshness.
Quick Selling Fact: This wine is the least expensive vintage bubbly on the planet (taste it blind against a $40 non-vintage “big brand” Champagne). Made by the Naveran family since 1901.
Xarmant Arabako 2014 ES (10)
Type: Txakolina
Region: Basque Country, Spain
Tasting Notes:
Wet stone, apples, pears and sweet berries.
Other Facts: Txakoli pronounced Cha-Ko-Lee, is a slightly sparkling, very dry white wine with high acidity and low alcohol content produced in the Spanish provinces of the Basque Country. It is normally served as an aperitif and drunk within one year of bottling as it cannot be stored for longer. We are one of the only restaurants pouring it from the tap!!!!!!!
Kir Yianni Xinomavro (see-no-mah-vro) 2013 GR (10)
Type: Rose Region: Greece Tasting Notes: Bright color, vivid acidity Strawberry
Other Facts: By far the most high quality red Greek grape varietal, see-no-mah-vro as it is phonetically spelled, has a rewarding depth and complexity. Kir Yianni is also deeply respected as a top Greek Winery working in two primary regions. Who doesn’t love pink bubbles?
Monte delle Vigne NV IT (11)
Type: Lambrusco
Region: Emilia-Romagna , Italy
Tasting Notes:
Red fruits and cherry.
Other Facts: This rustic slightly sparkling red from Italy is fruity and simple, with a dry, earthy, pleasantly bitter edge that shapes and channels the fruitiness.
Johanneshof Reinisch 2010 2010 AT (12)
Type: Pinot Noir Region: Thermenregion, Austria Tasting Notes: Old world elegance Raspberries, blackberries. Soft, charming fruit, round tannins and a constant finish.
Other Facts: Grapes are farmed organically, 65% of their production is to red wine (very rare in Austria as wine wines dominate the country’s overall production), Three Brothers (4th generation) make all the wine and run the business.
Paitin 2012 IT (11)
Type: Barbera Region: Alba, Piedmont Italy Tasting Notes: Dry, medium,refreshing acidity and soft tannins. Ruby purple color with ripe red cherry Hints of wet stone.
Other Facts: Only 1700 cases made a year. Very small production. Winery Started in 1796, family owned and estate bottled.
Dom Skouras 12 2010 GR (10)
Type: St George Region: Greece Tasting Notes: Medium bodied wine with graceful texture, Balanced acidity and very ripe elegant tannins Blackberries, ripe strawberries Clove and cinnamon Sweet vanilla and black pepper.
Other Facts: Domaine Skouras is one of the original pioneers of quality in Greece. The grapes are grown on high altitude (3,400ft) in the Nemea region, birthplace of St, George. Translated the name of the grape is Arghioghitiko.
Domaine La Madone, “Le Perreon” 2013 FR (9)
Type: Gamay
Region: Beaujolais, France
Tasting Notes:
Purple stone fruits, bursting with plum and black cherry
Other Facts: Olivier Berard’s family has been making wine around the village of Perreon for over 400 years. In fact since Perreon is Olivier’s mother’s maiden name it’s unclear whether this wine is an homage to the local terroir or to his ever patient mother (I’m betting he told his mom it was for her…).
