A

– small cells; low MCV
* Iron deficiency, portosystemic shunt, hyperthyroidism, Zn toxicity

A

large cells; high MCV
* FeLV, B12/folate deficiency, neoplasia, immune mediated and hereditary disorders
* May be normal in miniature and toy poodles, but then no anaemia is present
