How to negate a noun
Instead of A は Bです you just replace です(desu) with じゃありません (ja arimasen) so the pattern is then:
I am not a student.
watashi wa gakusei ja arimasen
No, Mr. Lee is not a Japanese. He is Korean.
Ree-san wa Nihonjin ja arimasen. Kankoku jin desu
How to change something to past tense
Change desu to deshita
