Vessels of the Limbs and Trunk Flashcards
Which arteries supply the arm?
Subclavian artery pass over first rib to become axillary arteries as they enter the axilla
What arteries do the axillary go into?
Axillary artery become the brachial artery
Which arteries does the brachial bifurcate into?
radial (lateral) and ulnar (medial)
Where is the pulse measured?
Radial artery
What are the major veins of the upper extrimity?
Basilic and cephalic veins
Describe the location of the cephalic vein
Superficial and passes over biceps
What is the medial antecubital vein?
Large vein passing over the front of the elbow from the cephalic to basilic vein
used to take blood
Describe the location of the basilic vein
Basilic runs up medial part of the arm and joins 1 out of the 2 brachial veins
Where do the brachial veins join?
The brachial veins join to become one as they pass up the arm
Describe the axillary vein
The brachial vein becomes axillary once in the axilla
What is the cubital fossa?
The transition between the arm and forearm
located as a depression on anterior surface of elbow joint
What is the palmar arch?
arteries originating from radial and ulnar to supply branches to the digits
Outline the aortic trunk and the branches supplying the body
Aorta Thoracic aorta Abdominal aorta Coeliac trunk Superior mesenteric artery Renal artery Inferior mesenteric artery Common Iliac Artery External iliac -> Femoral Internal Iliac -> Gonads
At what level does the inferior vena cava pass through the diaphragm
T8
What level does the oesophagus pass through the diaphragm?
T10
