What is the difference between the verbs Essere and Stare
**Essere **= to be or to exist / to feel something.
States a quality or state of something
- Give details about yourself or someone (Nationality, job, origin/where from).
- Give date and time
- Describe something or someone (birds are black, I am happy)
- Often used with “ci” ( There is = c’è, There are = ci sono)
Stare = to stay or to be. Implies voluntariness in action. To describe something
- In general, indicates location, health, appearance
2.Idiomatic expressions (stare zitto, stare attente, etc.) - Give precise locations of objects or people
- Continuous present tense / expressing action at a specific moment in the present (I’m eating pizza = Sto mangiando una pizza)

How is “piacere” most often used?
The subject of the verb is the item, not me, you, etc.
1) third person singular = piace = about another person or thing (he/she/it) this follows other -ERE verbs
Ex: I like summer = summer is pleasing to me (summer is the noun).
2) third person plural - = piacciono = they, them, theirs, themselves, their note this is irregular (pee-ach-an-oh)
Ex: Do you like sweets? Ti piacciono i dolci?
How do you say you like an activity, using the infinitive of the verb? Ex: Samuel likes to paint.
“A samuele piace dipingere”
Use preposition “A” + piace + infinitive of verb to paint.
If you don’t use a pronoun (ti, lei, etc.) before the verb, you need “A” before the name
The “A” may combine with the pronoun
