What is infraspinatus?
covers the fossa below the spine of the scapula
What is levator labii superioris?
small muscle on the side of the nose that goes down to hook into the top of the lip
What is levator scapulae?
goes kinda toward the neck; helps lift the shoulder
What is flexor pollicis longus?
deeper, goes to the thumb
What is depressor anguli oris?
pretty prominent triangle on the sides of the chin that extends from the corner of the mouth
What is the insertion of the masseter?
angle and ramus of mandible
What is anconeus?
looks like a triangle; below the back of the elbow
What is the origin of the deltoid?
clavicle
What is extensor digitorum?
where the tendons of the fingers come together
What is pectoralis minor?
inferior to the clavicle and and is covered by and smaller than pectoralis major
What is the sternocleidomastoid?
big muscle on the sides of the neck
What is the masseter?
inferior to temporalis and zygomaticus; can feel the you chew
What is flexor digitorum superficialis?
second biggest muscle on the forearm
What is sternothyroid?
goes from the manubrium to the thyroid
What does the ulnar nerve innervate?
hand, except thenar region
What is pronator quadratus?
wraps around like a watch band but only the bottom part
What is brachioradialis?
looks like it comes from brachialis; comes across the arm to the radius side
What does the axillary nerve innervate?
shoulder
What is extensor pollicis longus?
next after extensor pollicis brevis; on the back of the arm
What is mentalis?
sits right on the chin; technically two muscles
What is teres major?
can be seen from anterior and posterior sides; below the scapula
What is nasalis?
goes over the nose and is inferior to procerus
What is the insertion of flexor digitorum superficialis?
digits 2-5
What is pectoralis major?
covers the pec area; covers pectoralis minor
What is occipitalis?
darkened area on the back of the head
What is temporalis?
fan-shaped muscle that sits over the temporal bone
What is frontalis?
small thin muscle body on the forehead
What action does the posterior compartment of the arm do?
extension at the should and elbow joint
What action does the anterior compartment of the arm do?
flexion at shoulder and elbow joint
What is zygomaticus?
comes from the zygomatic arch to connect to the mouth; lateral to levator labii superioris
What is serratus anterior?
wraps around to the front of the ribs
What are the lumbricals?
in-between the tendons of the hand and kinda in-between the fingers
What is the supinator?
in the hole of your elbow
What is the epicranial aponeurosis?
large area on the top of the head that has no striations
What is Coracobrachialis?
kind of below biceps brachii; more medial; armpit region
What is rhomboid major?
largest of the three muscles coming off the medial border
What is extensor indicis?
extends to the index finger; closer to the pinky
What is the origin of the trapezius?
external occipital protuberance
What is digastric?
boomerang back towards the ear; covers the sides of the mylohyoid on the bottom of the chin
What is extensor carpi radialis longus?
one over from brachioradialis; on the back of the arm
What is the origin of the sternocleidomastoid?
manubrium and sternal end of clavicle
What is scalenes?
bundle of three muscles on the side of the neck
What is the insertion of biceps brachii?
radial tuberosity
What is the musculocutaneous nerve?
small nerve that dives into coracobrachialis
What is flexor carpi ulnaris?
on the ulnar side on the front of the arm
What is triceps brachii?
only muscle on the back of the arm
What action does the anterior compartment of the forearm do?
flexion at wrist and digits
What is subscapularis?
covers the subscapular fossa
What is the insertion of the sternocleidomastoid?
mastoid process
What is the thoracolumbar fascia?
covers a lot of the lower back; diamond shaped
What is the origin of extensor digitorum?
lateral epicondyle of humerus
What is the insertion of the trapezius?
clavicle
What is the mylohyoid?
chin strap; sits underneath the chin
What action does the posterior compartment of the forearm do?
extension at wrist and digits
What is rhomboid minor?
just able rhomboid major and is a lot smaller
What is biceps brachii?
has two heads
What is the deltoid?
wraps around the outside of the shoulder
What is the insertion of triceps brachii?
olecranon process
What are the hypothenar muscles?
three muscles in the medial part of the palm; anything on the hand that is not a tendon or on the thumb
What is levator anguli oris?
small muscle that goes down to the corner of the mouth; deep to levator labii superioris
What does the musculocutaneous nerve innervate?
anterior compartment of the arm
What is pronator teres?
next to supinator
What is the brachial plexus?
bundle of five nerves that branch off and innervate the arm
What is the ulnar nerve?
extends to the ulna; most medial of the anterior nerves
What is the axillary nerve?
smaller nerve that is part of the posterior group
What is the radial nerve?
bigger nerve going down to the radius; part of the posterior group
What is the median nerve?
extends down the forearm; middle nerve of the anterior group
What is the origin of flexor digitorum superficialis?
medial epicondyle of the humerus
What is the origin of triceps brachii?
infraglenoid tubercle
What is extensor digiti minimi?
extends to the pinky; closer to the pinky rather than the thumb
What is the omohyoid?
goes from the shoulder to the hyoid bone
What is palmaris longus?
middle one you can see on your wrist
What is latissimus dorsi?
comes from the armpit area; covers a lot of the back
What is the trapezius?
big triangle one of the upper back and neck
what is the origin of the masseter?
zygomatic arch
What is flexor carpi radialis?
next to pronator teres, radial side; on the front of the arm
What is teres minor?
just below infraspinatus; small muscle
What is flexor digitorum profundus?
under flexor digitorum superficialis; massive one in-between the flexor and extensor carpi ulnaris
What is supraspinatus?
covers the fossa above the spine of the scapula
What is sternohyoid?
runs from manubrium to hyoid
What does the median nerve innervate?
anterior compartment of forearm and thenar region
What is thyrohyoid?
goes from the thyroid to the hyoid; short muscle; under sternohyoid
What is orbicularis oris?
goes around the mouth
What is depressor labii inferioris?
have striations that curve up toward the lip
What is extensor carpi radialis brevis?
deep to extensor carpi radialis longus; on the back of the arm
What is abductor pollicis longus?
goes to the thumb, more toward the wrist; on the back of the arm
What is orbicularis oculi?
encircles the eye
What is the origin of biceps brachii?
supraglenoid tubercle
What is the insertion of the deltoid?
deltoid tuberosity
What is extensor pollicis brevis?
next after abductor pollicis longus
What is the insertion of extensor digitorum?
digits 2-5
What does the radial nerve innervate?
posterior compartments of the arm and forearm
What is platysma?
long, thin muscle that covers the neck
What are the thenar muscles?
three muscles in the lateral part of the palm; anything we didn’t name on the thumb side
What is procerus?
goes a little bit over the bridge of the nose
What is brachialis?
deep to biceps brachii
