Traditional Media
Written Format
Catalogs - shows pictures and writes details about the company’s product mix–kept in-house for a long-time
Direct Mail - relies on customer database (contact info., preferences, responses to previous campaigns)
Flyers - used by retailers to increase store traffic
Visual/Verbal Format
Direct Response TV - commercial messages that ask for immediate response via a toll-free number
Voice Calls - phone calls made to people’s landlines and mobile phones asking for interest in the company’s products and services
Online Direct Promotion
Display Advertising - ads are placed on other company’s websites or social media platforms (ex. scrolling through Facebook and seeing ads throughout)
Email - sending promotional business information to prospective or existing customers
Search Engine - ads that appear on search engines (e.g., Google) when users search keywords related to the company’s products
Websites - providing more content/information about the company and products on their website in a more specialized way
Social Media Direct Promotion
Ad-Based - displaying ads that are placed on social media platforms
Branded - creating and using own social media account to connect directly with existing customers, and create community
Interstitial - full-page ads served between screens during mobile app navigation and help capture attention
Apps - direct creation of a company’s app
