1
Q

altitude training

A

usually done at 2500m+ above sea level where the partial pressure of oxygen is lower

Q

relationship betweeen altitude and oxygen

A

as altitude increases, 02 drops

therefore, reducion in diffusion gradient of 02 between air and lungs and alavoli and blood

means not as much oxygen diffuses into blood meaning HB is not fully staurates with ocygen

therfore, less o2 is delivered to working muscles, reducing v02 max and quicker anaerobic respiration

Q

dis of altitiude training

A

altitutde sicknesenefits from altitude training can be lost quickly on return to se lebel and the body can produce limited amount of EPO

living away from home can cause psycholoigcal problems e.g home sickness

Q

HIIT training

A

High intsnity interval training
involves short intervals of max intesnity followed by recovery interval of low to moderate intensity exercise
work interval=anaerobic
rest interval=aerobic

helps with metablosim and bruing off calroies quicker

Q

plyometrics

A

involves repeated rapid stretching and contracting of msucles to imporve muscle power

involves high intsnity explosive activities e.g jumping, bounding
uses fast twitch fibres
grater the stretch, the greate rthe force
e.g like an elastic band

Q

stretch shortening cyle what are the 3 phases

A

eccesntic phase-on landing, muscle perfomeers essentic contraction where muscle lengthens under tension

amortisation phase-time betweeen essentic and concentric contractions
time needs to be shot as possible so that energy stored from essentric phase is not lost

concentric phase-uses stored energy to increase force of contraction

Q

SAQ training

A

speed agility and qucikeness

refers to how quickly a person can move over a specified diatnce

imporatnt in games combined with agility, where ability to move and postion the body quickly and effectively while under control

aims to improve multi-direcational movement
energy is provided anaerobically
drills include zig zag runs

beneficial for a goalkeeper
