submaximal and maximal execrise Flashcards

1
Q

maximal

A

begiins with m for mountain
1. anticiaptory rise
2.sharp rise in HR due to anaerobic work
3.heart rate continues to rise due to maximal workloads stressing the anaeroic systems
4.rapid delcine in heart rate as exercise stops
5.slow recovery as body systmes returning to resting levels

Q

subb maximal

A

1.anticaproty rise
2.sharp rise in HR due to anaerobi work
3.steady state as athlete is able to meet oxygen demand with the oxygen supply
4.rapid decline due to exercise stopping
5.slow recovery as body systems return to resting levels

Q

stroke volume response to exercise

A

increases as intensity increases but only up to 40-60% then plaetuas, due to the heart pumping faster so shorter diastolic phase so ventricles do not have as much time to fill up with blood so they cannot pump out as much

Q

CHD

A

conoary heart diease
takes place when the conory arteries, supply heart muscle with oxygenated blood become narrowed or blocked by build up of fatty deposits
process called atherscelorisis
fatty dposits are called atheroma
when become narror, cant trasnport as much xygen to heart causing pain and discomfot-agina
if peice of fatty deposit breaks off, can cause a blood clot which can cut off supply of oxygnated blood to heart muscle causing heart attack

Q

cardiovascular drift

A

where there is no change in intensity of exercise, but HR still slowly climbs
decrease in strove volume and arterial blood presssure, but an increase in HR
occurs during prolonged exercise
warm weather
when we sweat, a proprotion of this lost fluid comes from the plasma volume.this decrease in plasma volume reduces venous return and stroke volume

heart rate increases again to maintain and compensate cariac ouput to attempt to create energy to coll body down
minimise cardioascular drift, impornat to mainatin fluid consumption befoer and during exercise
