phase 3: 48-96h, jaundice, coagulopathy, renal failure, possible death

how does NAC work? how do we decide if it needs to be given?
NAC promotes conversion of the APAP toxic metabolite, NAPQI, to non-toxic products
APAP level is drawn 4-24 hours after ingestion
Rumack-Matthew nomogram uses [APAP] to determine NAC dose and appropriateness
how is PO NAC dosed
high dose x 1 then
low dose x17 doses
how is IV NAC dosed
3 infusions over 21 hours
what are the s/sx of anticholinergic overdose
blind as a bat: mydriasis, double or blurred vision
red as a beet: flushing
mad as a hatter: AMS
dry as a bone: dry skin and membranes
hot as a hare : fever
tx for anticholinergic overdose
