they actually kill the bacteria causing the problem without killing body cells. however, they do not destroy viruses. as viruses reproduce in our body cells so it is quite hard to kill viruses without killing body cells.

important for doctors to avoid over prescribing antibiotics. it is also important for patients to finish their whole course of antibiotics and not stop when they get better.
