Ceftriaxone - Spectrum:
A
- Most gram-positive bacteria - Staphylococcus & Streptococcus
- Most enteric gram-negative rods
- NO activity against Pseudomonas

- Bacterial pneumonia
- Bacterial meningitis
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- UTIs

- Limited activity against gram-positive cocci
- Gram-negative bacteria - including Pseudomonas

- Pseudomonas infections - including pneumonias, skin infections, and sepsis

- Gram-positive cocci
- Gram-negative rods - including Pseudomonas

S/E (ALL Cephalosporins):

- Diarrhoea
- Avoided in patients who are anaphylactic to penicillins

- May cause abdominal pain - d/t bile sludging
- Should NOT be given to newborns
