Stewardship:

A
  1. Unlikely to be effective after 48 hours
  2. Still evidence of decreased mortality with Rx in hospitalised patients
  3. Give empirically early in admission for greatest benefit
  4. NOT to be used for routine or widespread chemoprophylaxis
