  1. Most gram-positive bacteria - Streptococcus, Actinomyces
  2. Some gram-negative bacteria - Neisseria meningitidis
  3. NO activity against Staphylococcus aureus
  4. Aminopenicillins - better activity against gram-negative enteric rods (E.coli) than penicillin G

  1. Pharyngitis/tonsillitis
  2. Pneumonia d/t penicillin-susceptible strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae
  3. Prevention of rheumatic fever caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (group A strep)
  4. Prevention of rheumatic fever recurrence - penicillin V
  5. Streptococcal endocarditis
  6. Cellulitis
  7. Pneumococcal and meningococcal meningitis
  8. Syphilis - all stages- benzathine penicillin G
  9. Puerperal infections due to anaerobic streptococci or Streptococcus agalactiae (group B strep)
  10. Genital clostridial infections
  11. Cystitis - amoxicillin
  12. Early- and late-stage Lyme disease - amoxicillin
