IV 2.5-15mg/ 70kg

what are the contraindications and special considerations for morphine?
dependence
UC
suspected head injury
acute alcoholism
reduced resp
hepatic and renal insufficiency
hypersensitivity

dihydrocodeine
what is codeine?
naturally occurring oral opioid
what is codeine used for?
mild to moderate pain
in combination with paracetamol (cocodamol, codydramol)
where is codeine metabolised?
liver
what is codeines half life?
3 hours
what are the contraindications of codeine
nausea
hypotension
urticaria/ pruritis
what is the standard adult dose of codeine?
30-60mg 4-6 hourly
max 240mg in 24 hours
