what is the disadvantage of cocr instead of using PMMA?
creates a weakness as 2 materials have to bond together
what is Kennedy class I ?
bilateral free end saddle (no back teeth on both sides of the arch)
what is Kennedy class II?
unilateral free end saddle (no back teeth on one side of the arch)
what is Keneddy class III?
single bounded saddle not crossing the midline
what is Keneddy class IV?
single bounded saddle crossing the midline (missing front teeth)
what defined the keneddy class?
the most posterior saddle

primary imps
- impression borders (extensions)
- area covered by impression
- surface detail
what is the 3rd clinical visit for partial denture?
occlusion
(may not always be required depending on how many teeth and index teeth and how clear the occlusal relationships are)
what is lab stage 2 for partial dentures?
design
requires:
- surveyed articulated casts
- examination of occlusion
- reference to previous denture design
what does surveying do?
gives information on:
- path of insertion (and removal)
- areas around the teeth that may stop the denture being seated
- areas useful for clasping or holding denture in place

secondary (master) imps in special trays
