Q

give some exmaples of What can increase wear on cells

A
  • Cross linking/Mutations od DNA
    • Telomere shortening
    • Time dependant activation ageing and death genes
    • Accumulation of toxic by products of metabolism
    • Free radical generation
    • Damage to mitochondria DNA

Q

Why does chromic inflam cause cancer

A
  • cellular changes and immune responses to repair damaged tissues —> cell proliferate at site of injury
  • Inflam response become chronic increasing cell prolif and increasing risk of mutation
  • Chromic inflam cells (macrophages) generate high levels of reatctive N and O species to fight infection and releasing mutoagenic agents
  • Inflam cells also release factors that interfere with regular of replication exacerbating tumourgenesis
