What do the coronary arteries do?
Supply the cardiac muscle of the heart with O2/glucose/nutrients/remove CO2,supplying it with its own blood system called ‘coronary circulation’
What is coronary heart disease?
When the coronary arteries, get clogged up with fat deposits
=plaques form(build up of plaque)
=When the plaque falls it can cause a blood clot
=which reduces the blood flow to the heart muscle
= reducing the oxygen reaching the cells of the heart muscle
=reduces respiration
=less energy (less ATP produced)
=the heart muscles can’t contract
=heart cannot beat which causes a heart attack

What is one risk factor of CHD
it could be hereditary some ppl inherit a tendency towards CHD (carrying an allele for CHD)

The chemicals in tobaco MAKE THE BLOOD VESSELS NARROWER=INCREASES BLOOD PRESSURE=INCREASES THE CHANCE OF THE FORMATION OF PLAQUE

Exercise more regularly because regular exercise helps reduces BP and strengthens the heart
What other advise to someone who is at risk from CHD?
If you are genetically predisposed to getting CHD you could take it into account and make changes in lifestyle and diet
How does good diet reduce the chance of CHD?
Limiting how much saturated fats you eat –) reduce your blood cholesterol–)lowers your risk of coronary artery disease
