The anterior compartment of the forearm - lymph and nerves (dave's notes) Flashcards
Describe the general pattern of lymphatic drainage of the forearm
Superficial lymphatics follow veins and deep ones follow arteries.
What do ulnar lymphatics drain to?
via the basilic to supratrochlear nodes
To what nodes does radial lymph drain to ????
Via cephalic to deltopectoral and infraclavicular nodes.
What are the nerves of the flexor compartment of the forearm?
Lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm Medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm Superficial branch of the radial nerve Median nerve Ulnar nerve
From what does the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm arise?
A cutaneous continuation of the musculocutaneous nerve by piercing the fascia above the elbow
What does the course of the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm mirror? What does it supply?
Roughly symmetrical with the lateral cutaneous nerve. Supplies the post axial border.
What does the superficial branch of the radial nerve supply?
The radial two-thirds of the dorsum of the hand and the proximal parts of the dorsal surfaces of the thumb, index, middle and half of the ring finger.
What does the median nerve supply? What branch does it give off and what does this supply?
From the cubital fossa it gives a branch to pronator teres, then supplies FCR and palmaris longus.
gives of an anterior interosseous branch to FDP, FPL, PQ, and the interosseous membrane and periosteum.
How does the ulnar nerve enter the anterior compartment of the forearm? What is its course thereafter? What does it supply?
Enters by passing between the head of flexor carpi ulnaris, which lies under, not emerging till the wrist.
Gives of a dorsal branch to the dorsum of the hand and ulnar 1.5 fingers.
Passing over the flexor retinaculum it supplies the skin over the hypothenar eminence.
