The anterior compartment of the forearm - deep muscles (dave's notes) Flashcards

1
Q

What is the origin and insertion of flexor digitorum profundus?

A

Origin: The upper 3/4 of the anterior and medial surface of the ulna as far around as the subcutaneous border and narrow strip of the interosseous membrane
Insertion: Distal phalanges of the medial four fingers. Tendon to index finger separates early.

Q

Where is the space of parona? What is its clinical significance?

A

In front of the pronator quadratus, deep to the long flexor tendons. It becomes involved in the proximal extension of the synovial sheath, and may carry infection.
