Q

Describe the embryology of the pectoral girdle

A

Muscles developed in the upper limb are supplied by branches form the brachial plexus. Some uscles migrate out (lat dorsi), and some migrate in (SCM, trapezius)

Q

What type of joint is the acromioclavicular joint? Between which bones? Surrounded by what?

A

An atypical synovial joint, plane type between the overhanging lateral end of the clavicle and the under hanging medial border of the scapula. Surrounded by a sleeve-like capsule.

Q

What ligament provides most of the stability to the acromioclavicular joint?

A

The coracoclavicular ligament is extremely strong, and is in two parts. Conoid and trapezoid.

17
Q

Describe the conoid and trapezoid ligaments

A

These make up the coracoclavicular ligament which provides most of the stability for the acromioclavicular joint.
Conoid - inverted cone from knuckle of coracoid to cnoid tubercle
Trapezoid - from trapezoid ridge of coracoid to trapezoid rite on the undersurface of the scapula
