務民之義
敬鬼神而遠之
可謂知矣

Answer 2

The Master said,
To devote oneself to the justice of the common folk,
to pay respect to the ghosts and spirits and keep a distance from them,
this can be called wisdom.”

He asked about benevolence.

曰
仁者先難而後獲
可謂仁矣

Answer 4

The Master said,
he benevolent man makes [overcoming] difficulties his first business,
and benefits a subsequent consideration
this can be called benevolence.”
