臣事君，子事父，妻事夫。
The vassal serves the ruler, the son serves the father, and the wife serves the husband.
事君不二其心
He serves his ruler without dividing his loyalty.

A big nose can be reduced in size.
人皆有所不為
Everyone has things they do not do.
所求於人者少
What he seeks from others are few.
未知所之
They do not yet know where to go.
知人之所不言
They know the things people do not say.
非人之所能為也
This is not something humans are capable of doing.
知天之所為，知人之所為者，至矣
A person who knows that which the Heaven acts and knows that which the human acts has reached perfection.
莫知其所從出
No one knows from where it may emerge.
問所與飲食者
She asked him with whom he ate and drank.

Its land extends to east and west to the places where the sun and moon rise and set.
臣未之聞也
I, your humble servant, have not heard of it before.
不可不知也
(lit.) You cannot not know this. / It is necessary to know this.
故君子欲其自得之也
Thus a gentleman would wish to get hold of it himself.
人主以二目視一國，一國以萬目視人主。
A ruler observes the state with two eyes, the state observes its ruler with ten thousand eyes.
使人請以五十金買之
He sent someone to ask if he can buy it with fifty gold.
以道正己
He corrects himself with the Way.
故以一得十者，下道也；以十得一者，上道也。
Thus, to obtain ten with one
is an inferior way, to obtain one through ten is a superior way.
桀以醉亡天下
Jie lost his rule over All-under-Heaven due to his drunkenness.
樂羊以我故而食其子之肉
Le Yang ate the flesh of his son because of me.
