A substance usually a protein which causes formation of an antibody and reacts specifically with that antibody, and is capable of inducing an immune response
Antigen
any drug or compound which counteracts the production of histamine in the body.
Antihistamine
substance which is used for the destruction or control of microorganisms which are known to cause disease. I.e. chlorhexidine

endpoint or farthest tip of a root. Singular and plural
Apex, apices
known as a”canker” sore, is an uncomfortable vesicle which will rupture after one or two days
Aphthous
The process of laying down a hard tissue such as bone, enamel, dentin or cementum
Apposition
The equipment, books, instruments etc needed and used during a specific dental hygiene procedure
Armamentarium
area where two or more bones of the skeleton join or unite.
Articulation
wasting away of a tissue or organ as the result of disease, lack of nutrition or due to lack of use
