Tube like gastric pits to enhance tubular gastric glands
What are the 5 types of epithelial cells in the pit and glands?
- Muscous neck cells
- Surface mucous cells
- Parietal cells
- Chief cells
- Endocrine cells
What are the Mucous neck cells?
They secret glycoproteins rich in carbohydrates and bicarbinate which counteracts the effects of the hydrochloric acid and the proteolytic enzymes
What are the parietal cells?
produce hydrochloric acid and intrinsic factor
What are the chief cells?
produce pepsinogen
What are the endocrine cells?
produce regulatory horned and paracrine factors
What are the three muscle layers of the stomach?
The outer longitudinal, the middle circular and the inner oblique
