A

RemoveSCBA from service
Remove air cylinder
Put plastic cap on cylinder threads
Wash cylinder with clean soapy water
Rinse with clean water
Dry cylinder with a clean cloth
Wipe down harness straps frame airlines pressure reducers with soapy water
Rinse with clean water
Wipe down complete SCBA assembly with clean dry cloth
Check SCBA for any damage as per cylinder fill checklist

What is the process for cleaning the mask mounted regulator?

A

Remove regulator and face piece Remove regulator from face piece Remove obvious dirt from external surfaces with warm soapy water
Rinse with clean water
Inspect inner surface of regulator through opening
Depress the donning/air saver switch
Close purge knob
Disinfect/sanitize regular by spraying minimum 10 pumps of disinfectant into regulator opening Turn regulator face down
Shake excess liquid out
Allow 10 minutes of contact time before rinsing Rinse regulator with gently running tapwater Shake excess water out of regulator completely Dry regulator before use

What is the process for performing a regulator check?

A

Ensure no moisture remains in air cylinder by opening valve allowing air to escape for 2 to 3 seconds Install cylinder onto a clean SCBA
Install regulator at quick connect
Ensure the donning/air saver switch is depressed
Close the purge knob slowly
Open cylinder at least one full turn
Open purge valve
Observe airflow from the regulator

A

Wash face piece assembly with warm soap and water
Rinse with clean water
Disinfect/sanitize face piece by spraying 3 full pumps of disinfectant on the regulator side of the mask
3 full pumps on the face side of the mask
Wet entire surface including all rubber and plastic areas
Allow 10 minute contact time before rinsing
Rinse with clean drinking water
Shake excess water off face piece
Dry with clean soft cloth
Completely inspect all parts of face piece before putting back in service
Reinstall face piece on serviced SCBA and complete daily operational checks
Return to service

A

It is critical to the health and safety of personnel
Personnel will check the SCBA at the beginning of each shift to ensure their air cylinder is full
Personnel are to be aware of their air supply levels at all times while in the hot zone
Personnel will exit from an IDLH before the consumption of reserve air supply begins Personnel will take immediate action upon activation of the reserve air supply, notify the crew, exit the IDLH, immediately notify the IC
All personnel are responsible to report a low air warning alarm at an emergency scene to the IC It may be indicating a crew member in trouble
