What is a 360?
A complete visual survey of a structure/incident from all sides
What is an accountability officer?
Personnel assigned by the IC who overseas accountability operation
What is the definition of an aide?
Assistant to the IC with expertise in the particular field involved
What is an all clear?
A report indicating that an area of the building or the entire building has been searched and no persons found
What is the cold zone?
An area determined by the IC and/or hazmat sector officer that is safe for personnel and requires no specialized PPE
What does command mean on the fire ground?
Radio designation for the IC
Refers to the person, the functions and the location of command
What is a command post
The vehicle that could be used to provide a command location at a major emergency
What is a defensive strategy?
An exterior attack, with related support, designed to stop the forward progress of the fire, to protect exposures and to provide for fire control
What is emergency traffic protocol?
A temporary measure on a fire ground whereby all personnel are directed to only transmit radio messages of an immediate nature
What are examples of emergency traffic protocol?
A MAYDAY
A call for an evacuation
An urgent fire ground message Info that is vital to fire ground operations
What is an entry control person?
Personnel assigned by the IC who oversee entry control operations
What is an exclusion zone?
An area determined by the IC and/or ISO that is to be cordoned off with entry prohibited to all
What is a first alarm?
Initial arriving attack teams consist of pumper,aeriel or squad crews that respond directly to the scene

What is the fire ground incident technician?
Fire fighting personnel assigned to assist the DC with emergency and non-emergency duties
What is a hazard risk assessment?
A determination of whether the risk to personnel is justified by the results they can achieve
What is a hot zone?
An area determined by the IC and/or hazmat sector officer that is immediately dangerous to life and health
What is an incident action plan?
A strategic plan developed by: Evaluating conditions
Developing tactical approaches, Identifying available resources
Preparing assignments.
Based on achieving the three tactical priorities
What are the three tactical priorities?
Life safety
Stabilize the incident
Prevention of further loss/preservation of property
What is the incident commander?
The person who assumes command and control of personnel and apparatus at the incident, operating at a strategic level
What is the incident safety officer?
A trained fire service member who provides information and individual attention to supplement the role and responsibility of the IC for incident safety. They should work as a functional sector within the fire ground organization
What is an initial report?
A concise radio message to provide a description of conditions and confirmation and designation of command
What is level one staging?
Responding units stage in an area which is a safe distance from the scene but which allows for quick response when ordered into action by the IC
What is level two staging?
Utilized during incidents that are large, complex or lengthy.
Units are staged together in a specific location under the command of a staging coordinator
What is loss stopped?
The fire has been extinguished and no further fire damage is expected
What is mobile command?
Flexibility given to the first officer on scene who may be required to assist his crew is not required to take a fixed position
What is an offencive strategy?
An attack, with related support, designed to quickly bring the situation under control
What is an on deck crew?
The forward placement of a fully equipped crew to an established tactical position to provide a ready supply of staffing
What does it mean to pass command?
A tactical decision by the first arriving officer to transfer command to the second arriving officer.
This allows the first officer to work with his crew and still affords a stationary command through the second officer
