More male opportunities in sports. More male media coverage. Less female opportunities and paid less also
How does age affect participation in sport?
Age affects performance as when you are younger depending on the amount of income your parents/guardians have affects the amount of sporting opportunites you will have.
How does socio-economic group affect participation in sport?
If your parents have more money than most people, you will have more sporting opportunites. If you have parents who earn less than others then you may have less as they must pay for equipment etc.
How does ethnicity affect participation in sport?
Common ethnicity groups will join together in a specific aporting area due to a mutual cultural interest
How does disability affect participation in sport?
People which may have disabilities will have less sporting opportunites as depending on the disability they may not have the facilities to deal with it.
How does the incluence of others affect participation in sport?
Most people’s choice of activity is based off others.
People choose the same activities as family,friends and sporting figures they admire
What is commercialisation in sport?
Commercialisation is making something available on the market or using somethimg to make profit
How does media coverage impact commercialisation of sport?
The increase in media coverage causes an increases in commercialisation
If there were no magazines,TV’s, radios & internet it wouldnt be the same
How does fashion affect participation in sport?
Many activities require the ‘correct equipment’
Media coverage and commercialisation can make these expensive
Sports stars represent brands which make the equipment making more people want to buy it
