Second class lever set up, example and mechanical advantage or disadvantage
Load in the middle, calf raise , advantage
Mnemonic for the levers
FLE 123 (first = fulcrum in the mdidle)(second = load in the middle)(thrid = effort in the middle’
Third class levers set up, example and mechanical advantage or disadvantage
Effort in the middle, biceo curl, mechanical disadvantage
Mechanical advantage
When the output is greater than the input. The load is greater than the effort, so you are getting more out than you are putting in. First and second class levers both work at a mechanical advantage.
Mechanical disadvantage
When the input is greater than the output. The force you apply is greater than the load so you are putting in more than you are getting out. Third class levers work at a mechanical disadvantage.
