A self-screening tool that can be used by anyone who is planning to start an exercise or training routine
Why do we perform a warm-up?
Prepare the muscles, joints,mind,ligament, CV system
Prevent injury
What are the three phases of a warm up?
Cardiovascular
Stretching
Sport specific
Cardiovascular phase
Gradually raise the heart rate towards the working heart rate
Stretching phase
The two main sorts of stretching:
Static-on the spot
Dynamic-stretches that use movements specific to a sport
Sport specific phase
Practice the skills of the activity e.g
Sprint starts
Shot stopping
Throwing and catching ( cricket)
Rallies (tennis)
Cool down
Activites similar to those used in the warm up in order to gradually return the heart rate to its resting level
Normally followed by stretching
