Macronutrients
Nutrients we require in high quantity, providing sources of energy.
Carbohydrates
Your bodies main source of energy. Complex- long lasting energy like pasta. Simple- quick fix of energy like fruit, cakes.
Carb-loading
Eating more carbohydrates than usual a few days before playing in a game to use as energy.
Fats
Provide energy for long lasting, low intensity exercise. -avocado, nuts, cheese
Protein
Used to build and repair tissues. Fish, meat.
Micronutrients
Nutrients that help maintain healthy imune system, there are 4
Vitamins
Help us meaintain good skin, vision, red blood cell production, healthy bones and blood clotting.
Minerals
Calcuim strengthens bones and prevents osteoperosis, iron allows RBC to carry more haemoglobin.
Fibre
Adds bulk to food helping digest and makes you feel full.
Water
Helps carry nutrients around body and is used in our sweat to maintain good body temp.
