Q

When are slow oxidative fibres used
-explain force given out

A

-sub-maximal aerobic work
-contract quickly- give overall low force of contraction
-individual fibres recover quickly

Q

Application for training and recovery using slow oxidative fibres

A

very low work: relief ration- 1:1, 1:0.5
e.g 3 mins moderate intensity- 90s break

training can be performed on daily basis

-advised between heavy weight training sessions -> ^ blood flow, enhacnes healing process

Q

Application for training & recovery for fast oxidative glycoltyic fibres

A

-produce large amount of force quickly
-resist fatigue

-used in high-intensity activities, lasting few minutes (800m)

Q

When are fast glycolytic fibres used

A

-recruited in last 2-10 secs of contraction, when maximal efforts are needed

-accompanied by eccentric muscle fibre damage -> causes DOMS -> 24-48hrs after exercise

Q

Application for training & recovery for fast glycolytic fibres

A

maximal weight training- v high work-to-relief ratios

-1:3+ work: relief ratio, 3-5 mins oc rest between sets of 2-6

-once fast glycolytic muscles been used to exhaustion- take 4-10days to recover
