SIRNA Flashcards
how can transalation of mrna in prokarypootes be inhibited
by breaking mrna down before it is coded into information and translated
what is involved
small interfering rna
how does it occur what does enzyme do
an enzyme cuts a large double stranded molecule rna into smaller section called small interfering rna
what happens to one of the strands
it combines with the enzyme
what happens to the sirna molecules
it guides the enzyme to a messenger rna molecule
how does it guide it
by pairing up the bases of the rna to its complimentary bases on the mrna molecules
what happens once in position
the enzyme cuts the mrna into smaller section
what happens to this mrna molecule
it is no longer capable of being translated into a polypeptide so the geen ois not expressed and is blocked
