Krebs Cycle Flashcards
What is the first step of the kerbs cycle
The 2 carbon molecules combined with the oxecycotate and release coenzyme a and forms citrate
What happens in the second stage of the kerbs cycle
The citrate loses a carbon dioxide to form a 5 carbon molecules
What happens in the thrid stage of the kerbs cycle
The 5 carbon molecule releases a co2 and bad forms reduced nad by accepting hydrogen it then form 4 carbon molecule
What happens in the fourth stage of the kerbs cycle
The carbon 4 molecule consecutive hydrogens are removed to reduce nad to nadh2x and then fad is reduced to fadh then atp is also synthesis through substrate level phosphorylation
What happens in the last stage
The remaining 4 oxecycoate combine with the 2 carbon molecule
What are coenzymes
They are molecules that enzymes require in order to function and play a major role in photosynthesis and reapiration it carries h from one molecule to another
What does kerbs cycle do to large molecules
Breaks them down into smaller molecules
What does it do to the produced hydrogen
It is carried by the nad to the electron transfer chain and provides energy for oxidative phosphorylation
What does the regenerated 4 carbon molecule do
It combined with acetylcoenzyme a
