diabetes Flashcards
what the main symptoms
high thirst urine production tiredness muscle wasting poor vision
why does diabetes lead us to be thirsty
as the water moves from the cell into the blood as there is high concentration of glucose in the blodo
why does diabetes lead us to produce a large amout of urine
more water in the blood so more urine production
why do we feel more tired
due to less glucose intake into the muscles and liver
why do we have poor vision
due to the loss of water in the eye
what is type 1 diabetes
the bodies inability to produce insulin
when does it begin and why
begins in childhood which is an auto immune response destroying the b cells
how does it develop and what about the symptoms
develop quickly and symptoms are recogntizable
what is type 2 diabetes
insulin independent where the glycoproteins are lost or lose responsiveness to insulin
`how else may it be cause
inadequate supply of insulin from the pancreas
what is type 2 associated with
`obesity and poor diets
how is type 1 usually controlled and how
usually by injection that match the glucose intake 2/4 times
why cant we take it by our mouth
as insulin is a protein so it will be hydrolysed in the canal
what happens if there is too much insulin
leads to low blood sugar and can lead to unconsciousness
so how do we regulate
we measure with biosensors
