What should a fire apparatus do before bakcing inot the station?
Come to a full stop andTurn headlights, emergency lights and 4 way flashers on. This allows firefighters to dismount safely and assist the driver while bakcing up

Control pedestiran traffic and assist the driver in backin the appatus onto the ramp and into the station using agreed upon hand signals

What should drivers do when backing up and appatus at other locations?
- aboid backing up whenever possible
- plan ahead when parking, so backing up is not necessary
- have firefighter assist them, as outlined above, if backing up is unaboidable
- if firefighters are unabailable, dismount walk completely around the apparatus before backing up to ensure there are no unseen obistacles behind the appartus

What is the purpose of crew integrity?
to ensure that if fireifghter become injured, trapped, seperated or unconscious, a team member will nbe available to assist or call for help

What should employers be responsible for?
- Ensure crew integrity is maintained through the emergency
- develop operational procedures containing every and exit principles
- train firefighters on the procedures

- when to raise or lower aerial apparatus, lighting masts and ground ladders
- when to begin or cease roof operations
- moving pump operatior off the ground onto the pump operator step or to the inside of the apparatus

- staging all personnel not on active assignmen inside the apparatus or a building and committing the minimum number of personnel to complete outside assignments
- providing information to the incident commander of actual or potential lightning strikes in the vicinity or an incident, to assist in risk management analysis on scene
6-14 Safe roof Operations
What should be considered when developing procedures for working on roofs?
- Conducting initial and ongoing risk assessments that detirmine the type of roof construction the location of the fire and the length of time that the structure has been burning
- factors impacting building integrity should be taken into consideration when determining whether to commit personnel to, or evacuate personnel form the roof sector
- based on the risk assessment, appropriate personal protective equipment, including fall protection equipment, that should be provided to the individuals assigned to the roof sector
- where fall arrest systems are implemented as a precaution for a fall hazard, a self-rescue and rapid intervention plan should be developed and implemented if needed, by trained personnel
- identifying or providing for an alternate means of emergency excape other than the initial route of access
- esure appropriate supervision is provided and roof activities are coordinated by a roof sector officer designated uner the incident managemen system
