01-01 Overtime

How long does an idividual have to report when notified of immmediate overtime?

A

The individual shall not accept the overtime unless he/she is able to arrive at the designated station within sixty (60) minutes or less.
If the individual fails to arrive iwthin the specified time as set out above, that person shall be subject to the following actions:
1. 1st offense, the individual is given a verbal warning
2. 2nd offense within a year, the idividual is gien a written warning and prohibited from working overtime for the period of twelve (12) months

  2. a minimum of seven hours of fire safffety & public education per month is achieved from may 1st to octobre 31st. Through November 2nd to April 30th, public education hours will be assigned at the discretion of hte PC
  3. all fire safety & public education activities are loggged on the internal portal
  4. appropriate supplies are obtained for the chosen program through the D-11 process
  5. apparatus and amaintenance divisions shall ensure that D-11 request for fire sagety & public educaation supplies are filled weekly

  2. the investigation should not delay submission of part A

  1. a worker member of the committee shall investigate any critical injury or death as defined in the occupational health and safety act with in the jurisdiction of the committee
  2. the employer shall designate a management memer of the committee to assist the worker memver in these investigations
  3. the investigation team will be respnsible for overseeign that the requirements prescribed in section 9(31) of the act, and sections 5 and 6 of the regulations for industrial establishment including section 51 of the OHSA are properly carried out

Critical Injury

A

Crtical injury as defined by R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 834 means an injury of a serous nature that,
1. places life in jeopardy
2. produces unconsciousness
3. results in substantial loss of blood
4. involves the fracture of a leg or arm, but not a finer or toes
5. involves the amputation of a leg, arm, hand or foot, but not a finger or toe
6. consist of burns to a major portion of the body
7. causes the loss of sight in an eye

4.04 Shift exchange policy

What are the penalties for a missed shift exchange?

A

1st offence - prohibited from doing shift exchanges for 6 months, loss of one lieu day, and required to work missed shift exchange

2nd offence - prohibited from doing shift exchanges for one year, lose one lieu day, required to work the missed shift exchange

3rd offence - prohibited rom doing shift exchanges for two years, lose one lieu day required to work the missed shift exchange

Extended heat warning - same as a heat warning except the time frame is 3 days

1. proficiency in the current AED protocols
2. Proficiency in the current EMR protocols
3. proficiency in personal protective equipment including SCBA daily inspections
4. proficeiency in the use of PPE including SCBA
5. proficiency in search and rescue evolutions with restricted visibility
6. proficiency as part of a team in raising an extension ground ladder to a 3rd story window

Fire fighter only
1. demonstrate proficiency in the operation of a fire pump
2. Deonstrate proficiency and competency in driving fire apparatus

The department issued baseball cap shall only be worn under the following conditions:

  1. hats may not be work by personnel while inside any building
  2. hats may be worn in conjuntion with station wear while working outside where approved head protectin is not requried
  3. hats mst be worn with the peak facing forward (not backwards or sideways)
  4. the above hats may not be worn with a dress uniform
  5. other than the dress unifor hat, employees will only be permitted to wear departmen issued baseball cap and/or toque.
