Science 10 - Motion Flashcards
What is distance?
The amount of space between two objects or points.
What is speed?
The distance travelled per unit of time. 10m/s 110km/h
What is displacement?
The change in position. 250km[N]
What is position?
The separation and direction from the reference point. 152m[W]
What is velocity?
A speed along with a direction. 60km/h[E]
What is air resistance?
Friction of air/force of air on moving object, alters speed.
What is g-force (acceleration)?
The acceleration of falling objects due to the force of gravity.
What is terminal velocity?
When a falling object is no longer accelerating because the upward and downward force are balanced.
What is vector quantity?
A quantity that has both size and direction
What is scalar quantity?
A quantity that involves only size.
What is constant velocity?
Speed and direction stays the same.
What is constant speed?
Speed stays the same, but direction may change.
Average velocity?
v(arrow)=deltaDr(arrow) divided by time
Average speed?
v=d/t
