22
Q

innervation of infraspinatus

A

suprascapular nerve (C5, c6)

23
Q

origin of supraspinatus

A

supraspinous fossa of scapula

24
Q

insertion of supraspinatus

A

upper facet of greater tubercle

25
Q

action of supraspinatus

A

abduction of humerus from 0-15degrees

26
Q

innervation of supraspinatus

A

suprascapular nerve (c4, C5, c6)

27
Q

what are the positions of the suprascapular artery and nerve relative to the superior transverse scapular ligament?

A

suprascapular artery goes above the ligament, suprascapular nerve goes below the ligament

28
Q

type of joints between sternoclavicular, acromioclavicular and glenohumeral joints?

A

synovial

29
Q

what kind of joint is the scapulothoracic joint?

A

physiologic joint (non synovial joint)

30
Q
A
31
Q
A
32
Q

what ligaments are associated with the acromioclavicular joint?

A

acromioclavicular liagment, coracoacromial ligament, coracoclavicular ligament consisting of the trapezoid ligament and the conoid ligament

33
Q

what joint is commonly associated with a “shoulder separation”?

A

acromioclavicular joint

34
Q

what is the joint that usually is fractured if there is a “clavicular fracture”

A

the sternoclavicular, because there is no where else for the stress to go

35
Q

what comprises the glenohumeral joint?

A

the head of the humerus and the glenoid cavity of the scapula

42
Q

what is the most common bursitis in the shoulder?

A

subacromial bursa gets impinged between acromion and supraspinatus tendon

dx: US or MRI
tx: corticosteroid injections

43
Q

what damage can the dislocation of the glenohumeral joint cause?

A

damage to the glenoid labrum, ligaments supporting the GH joint, nerves crossing the GH joint (axillary, radial), tendons crossing the GH joint (supraspinatus)

*most likely will damage the supraspinatus*

44
Q
A
45
Q

what is the difference between a shoulder dislocation and shoulder separation?

A

a dislocation is the disarticulation of the glenohumeral joint

a separation is when the acromioclavicular joint is disarticulated

46
Q

what muscle abducts the arm from 0-15degrees?

A

supraspinatus

47
Q

what muscle abducts the arm from 15-90 degrees?

A

deltoid

48
Q

what muscle abducts the arm more than 90 degrees?

A

serratus anterior, via superior rotation of the glenous fossa
