What should be used in conjunction with the search rope

Search rope is used for
To maintain search integrity under difficult circumstances
Search rope description
Either 5/16 “ diameter white nylon rope or 7.5 diameter kermantle design
200 feet long
Snap hook on each end
New kermantle design rope will have a double action hook on end and snap hook on other ( double action hook at working end th snap hook attached to bag )
Each rope will have id tag attached where.
One to rope and one to bag
The actual length of rope may be short by
25 feet due to shrinkage and the knots
A series of knots are used to id direction and distance the intervals of knots are
25 feet apart
Knots are tied
Single knot =25 feet
2 knots = 50 feet
Knot every 25 feet ending at 7 knots at 175 feet
Spacing between distance knots is approximately
6 inches
A single directional knot is located
18 inches before the distance knots when traveling the direction of deployment
This knot will always be closer to tie off point or exit
No directional knot at 25 foot distance knot
When unit deploys search rope they must ?
Notify IC
The search rope should be tied off
At intervals
Change direction and grade
If search interrupted tie off line and leave remainder of bag
When securing rope to substantial object at beginning of search
Search rope should know many feet off ground ?
1 to 2 feet
Repack rope
Monthly
Inspect search rope
After use
Repacking rope
Ensure rope is dry before Repacking Lay rope on clean surface Coil rope clockwise begin with end that has one knot Secure end with d ring in bottom of bag Coil rope counter clockwise in bag
