Bag or any component of the PSS shows signs of heat exposure ,degradation melting or charring

During semi annually inspection a more through inspection of rope will occur during this inspection if any part of system shows degradation or the anchor hook EXO or carabiner show any deformities oos the PSS

During your inspection of the PSS system you should pull 3-6 inches of rope through the EXO to ensure the device functions properly ..after you test the EXO you should pull the rope back through EXO leaving how much rope between EXO and anchor hook?

The inside of the rope bag is dyed black over time the dye may leak onto rope and cause discoloration does this put the rope OOS
No it does not because it dies not reduce the load capacity of the rope
Who is responsible for establishing controls for Repacking PSS
Company commander
When PSS placed OOS the Officer must ?
1.Replace system by immediate phone call to administrative division
2. Prepare Rt-2 and include :
A.Members name
B.Reference number
C. Assigned unit
Retain copy of rt-2
3. Mark in company and office record journal
4. If PSS contaminated OOD call SOC to P/u
5. OOD complete out of service life safety equipment report (scf-2) fwd to CHIEF OF SAFETY
6. Whenever personnel harness or PSS EXO descender is exchanged the PSS verification system on FDNY intranet must be updated
If awaiting PSS and receive a run
Member will respond
Member shall to be counted towards the units staffing
Upon arrival the officer will inform IC of units status
Members not equipped with PSS will not enter IDLH
Who is responsible of the serviceability of the PSS
The member wearing it
Company commanders must record
The serial number of EXO and name of person issued in ORJ
Maintain PSS verification system on intranet
