Sequence for activating PTO on rearmount aerials
- Place transmission into neutral
- Engage maxi- brake
- Move front brake lock switch to on position ( front brake light will illuminate )
- Open red cover of PTO control switch and flip to up position .. PTO light on

Sequence for disengaging PTO
- Bed aerial ladder and nest stabilizers
- Store wheel chocks and stabilizer pads and make sure all compartments closed
- Close red cover of PTO control switch

The interlock diverted valve allows the aerial ladder to move when the stabilizers are properly engaged . Can you override the IDV

When should the aerial emergency hydraulic operation be used
When normal PTO fails or the engine shuts down and the aerial ladder or jacks need to be used
May not work if aerial losses hydraulic fluid ..however still make attempt. Reason for failure must be addressed before the emergency system can function

Steps for emergency aerial ladder operations
- With engine off place ignition ON and place transmission in neutral and apply all brakes
- On aerial control panel place PTO switch to ON and move the normal/emergency switch to auxiliary position? (Red indicator light will illuminate )
- At pedestal depress aerial enable for switch
- Activate the emergency pump switch ( this is a momentary switch ,which means it must hold switch in ON POSITION) and at same time activate the function that u want to perform
- Once ladder has completed that function release both control lever and emergency pump switch and allow for cool down period before attempting another function
When you activate the emergency pump switch you must continually hold the switch until the ladder has completed tins function

The rotation limiting device limits turntable rotation on the short jacked side too

What are the 2 functions of the interlock diverter valve
- When ground stabilizers are loaded vertically the aerial interlock valve opens and allows movement of aerial
- When the aerial ladder is moved from cradle ,it closes the stabilizer interlock valve and prevents movement of the stabilizers
Points about lowering stabilizers on Un level ground
- Start with stabilizer on low side first (regardless if inboard or outboard side)…low side is direction that apparatus leaning
- Low side stabilizer shall be fully extended horizontally and lowered to max
- High side is extended as necessary and lowered to point that levels apparatus( utilize inclinometer at rear of apparatus )
- If inboard side is high side it must be fully extended horizontally and lowered the distance necessary
You should match these two things to get the proper load capacity of the aerial
The inclinometer ( located on the inside of aerial base section) and the extension footage numbers
When using the aerial emergency hydraulic operation you must perform each function with a deliberate no rush approach . You should perform each function consecutively with no rest .
No when you perform a function ( retract, lower, rotate) you must wait a period so the batteries and electric pump can cool down
