Apparatus L-7 Rearmonut Aerial Flashcards
How many feet on the side of the rear mount aerial do you need to put stabilizers down
5.2 feet
The load capacity of the aerial varies from ____lbs to ___ at the tip depending on the degree of elevation
250 to 750
Dimensions of rearmount
36 feet long 8 ' wide with stabilizers nested 18.4 with stabilizers down 10'8" high 60,000 ibs unloaded
Sequence for activating PTO on rearmount aerials
- Place transmission into neutral
- Engage maxi- brake
- Move front brake lock switch to on position ( front brake light will illuminate )
- Open red cover of PTO control switch and flip to up position .. PTO light on
True or false the aerial ladder must be bedded and stabilizers fully nested to disengage PTO
True
Sequence for disengaging PTO
- Bed aerial ladder and nest stabilizers
- Store wheel chocks and stabilizer pads and make sure all compartments closed
- Close red cover of PTO control switch
- Move front brake lock switch to off position
The interlock diverted valve allows the aerial ladder to move when the stabilizers are properly engaged . Can you override the IDV
Yes in emergency if there is a malfunction and emergency exists and stability of apparatus and safety of all persons and equipment is considered
Inform IC immediately if IDV override is operated
When extending and lowering stabilizers you should start with
The stabilizer on the working side (inboard ) first
Note .. Exception if aerial is not level start with low side first .. This may or may not be inboard side depending on position of rig
Short jacked means
A stabilizer that is not fully extended horizontally
When should the ground stabilizer pads be placed on the ground
Right before stabilizers contact ground
When ground is not level and apparatus leaning you should lower which side first
On lowest side first(direction apparatus leaning)
Note :
lower the low side stabilizer fully
Lower the high side as necessary to a point that levels apparatus ( use inclinometer )
If the inboard side is the high side then it must be fully extended horizontally than lower the distance to level apparatus
Manual safety pins should be placed where
In the highest hole possible in the stabilizer
How can you tell how far the ladder is extended form the pedestal of the aerial
When the extension footage numbers on the base section vertical struts and the corresponding bright colored vertical strut of second section line up ladder is that length
When should the aerial emergency hydraulic operation be used
When normal PTO fails or the engine shuts down and the aerial ladder or jacks need to be used
May not work if aerial losses hydraulic fluid ..however still make attempt. Reason for failure must be addressed before the emergency system can function
The engine should be running when the normal/hydraulic switch his placed into auxiliary position
False cannot be running
