Root Development Flashcards
What is the tooth germ?
The circle bit
Where is the oral epithelium?
The line above the tooth germ
Where is the dental lamina?
The line that connects the oral epithelium and the tooth germ
How does the pulp get separated?
HER stops going down and starts growing in towards eachother
Where is the dental follicle?
Around the edge of the circle
Where is the dental papilla?
In the middle of the triangle
Where is the cervical loop?
Where the inner and outer epithelium meets
Where is the stellate reticulum?
In the middle of the crescent
Where is the stratum intermedium?
Lines the C of the crescent
What tissue type makes the tooth germ?
Ectoderm
What forms the reduced enamel epithelium? (4) What does it go on to become?
Inner enamel epithelium, outer enamel epithelium, stratum intermedium and stellate reticulum
Junctional epithelium
When will the HER break down?
When dentine is made
What are cells rests of melessez?
Remains of the HER
What is at the root apex?
Epithelial diaphragm for vascularisation
What type of cementum makes the upper 2/3 of the root?
Acellular
What type of tissue makes the dental papilla?
Mesenchymal
What breaks down the make a canal for eruption?
Junctional epithelium
What is active vs passive eruption?
The root pushing the tooth up vs the crown becoming exposed
What pulls and what pushes in eruption?
PDL tension pulls and bone remodelling pushes
What is the only cause of eruption?
Alveolar bone remodelling
At what stage is the enamel knot no longer present?
Bell stage
