How is aldosterone formed?
Ang2 is converted to it
Describe the renin angiotensin aldosterone system
Kidney releases renin which is converted to Ang1 then Ang2 using ACE and then aldosterone
Where is the thyroid?
In the neck
Describe the cellular arrangement of the thyroid
Follicular cells create a circle with colloid inside
What do c cells do?
Secrete calcitonin
What seperates the thyroid?
Isthmus
What is cortisol for?
Increase glucose in response to stress
What are herring bodies?
Accumulations of hormones
What makes ADH and what does this stand for?
Hypothalamus
Antidiuretic hormone
What is apical and basal?
Circle and straight line
What are the two things in the hypothalamus that communicate with the pituitary gland?
Paraventricular nucleus and supraoptic nucleus
Which side has the portal system?
Anterior
What is between the 2 halves of the pituitary gland?
Pars intermediate and rathke pouch
Where is the pars distalis and tuberalis?
Distalis is on the right of the anterior and the other on the left
