Retina anatomy Flashcards

1
Q

A

Shaped like a cup, highest density of photoreceptors. color vision and sharpest vision at this point

Q

Macula

A

Hihly sensitive area in center of the retina, back of the eye. Responsible for central vision

Light has to pass mass of retinal artiries and veins, and cell layers, body particals to get to the receptors

Q

Pigment epithelium

A

The photoreceptors lie within the pigment that absorbs light, which prevents light scatter. This allows for sharper vision.
